I'm looking for opinions on standalone monitor units. With DAWs, one can do a lot of mixing but they're sorely lacking for master sections with speaker selection and talkback.

Is there a box that converts multiple 2-channel digital signal into a single 8-channel signal?

For example, if I have a couple of 2-channel A/Ds, a synth with SPDIF out and maybe an FX unit, is there a box that will let me connect them in pairs to the 8 outs of the multi-channel connection?

hi...i use 2 hard drives one wd40jb for op and one wd80jb for data...the first one is it partitioned in 2 partitions... first partition for op and the second for sampl.Wavesetc. i have a question:do i really need to put the first hard on IDE1 master and second on IDE2 master?...because they are right now first IDE1 master and second one on IDE1 slave.

I've got this strange situation. I have to configure a PC with Xp and a M-Audio audiophile card and Reason. When i set the buffers at 128 all is fine. No latency. I let the Pc sit for one hour and try the controller keyboard again. Bang! The latency is unbelieveable, like 1 second! So i quit Reason and start it up again. Voila no latency.

I recently purchased a used Alesis Quadrasynth (plus piano) keyboard and I have been unable to find a complete copy of the user's manual on the net. Does anyone know of an internet site that is good for this sort of thing?

I have a fostex vf-160 stand-alone DAW, and I just bought a full duplex sound card for my computer ($100). I am afraid I wasted my money because the DAW has ADAT optical I/O, SCSI 50 pin output, and MIDI I/O, but my sound card has only 3.5mm I/O and firewire (soundblaster audigy). I have been able to transfer audio through an rca out of the DAW, but I can't transfer digital.

Anyone had a chance to play around with one of these little buggers? I know PreSonus's quality is not top-notch, but I had a Blue Tube that did a serviceable job on some tracks. At $99, these parametrics are pretty enticing. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I thought it would be a good idea to collect what you think is the best bargain you can do when you're buying recording equipment. Maybe you also can add second hand stuff.
I would like to start with the FMR-RNC- really nice compressor... but I haven't tried it yet.

hi...i-m actualy using 2 wd jb hard drives wd40jb for op and wd80jb for data on p4pe mobo. my mobo suports serial ata...i'm planning to buy the new WD360GD serial ata 10.000 rpm to use it for data...is it a good idea?...will they work well together?...hey opus you're the biggest wd fan ;) ...just tell me your opinion...
