I've heard that having a second hard drive is the only way to go when it comes to computer recording, but how do I make Cakewalk write to that drive instead?

I'm seeing a big difference in dB levels when comparing my analog mixer to my digital read out in my Echo Layla24 Console.

does anyone know how long a firewire (IEEE 1394)cable can be before you start losing data? i found a place that sells 10m firewire cables and i could really use one for my studio but I don't know if it's too long...

Question for the wise out there.

I am currently involved in a reocrding project where I am laying down guitar. My question is this, the guitar player is sitting about 5 feet away from the monitors when recording. Should I put a record offset in to avoid any delays on the tracks? And for that matter should this be a common step taken before recording anything?

Kurt. once again I need your assistance and advice! I have had BAD LUCK with CDR's! My Phillips 808 and 765 were short lived,one crackles, one doesn't record anymore. Is there a decent CDR out there at a LOW price? Or were mine just too early in the development? Or am I being too cheap?Are there some specs I need to be looking for?

If I've already installed my software, will the tweaks still be effective and not f**k anything up? If not, please inform me of which ones to not perform...
