Sidechain for compressor

Dear all knowing recording gods . . .

okay - sorry about that. But now you're reading . . . and after that cat-washing post I feel a little more open to adding some spice to my posts!

I've heard little about this - and it may be more of a mastering question - but can someone fill me in on the theory of using a sidechain and subsequent EQ with a compressor? thanks!

Shameless Apogee plug. .Because I can! lol

Yes, it's out...Big Ben Master Clock box with a jitter level so low it's virtually un measurable!

big Ben is hitting the shelves as we speak and is the ultimate studio unit to have to get everything super tight in terms of clocking!

Go get em damn it! :D

Any questions and I'll be more than happy to answer them for you!

Hi there people,
I'm a newbie here and experiencing some problems with virtual instruments...

Cuebase 5.1 writing to OS drive.

Opus,
My computer is writing audio files to the OS drive instead of the "G" removable drive. Even when I select it to save song in the "G" drive the audio files get routed to the OS "C" drive. I have it a the shop being looked at but the guys there don't know a lot about Cubase. They said I should ask you waht to do. Any suggestions?

Windows 2000 and "Standard PC" mode

Okay, I have a P42Ghz with 512Mgs of ram running a Whizpro BIOS Ver. 1.01 dated 04/02/02 and have installed Windows 2000 Professional. I tried to follow Opus' optimization guide, but to be honest, I never saw the initial screen prompt saying hit F6 to add any third party SCSI devices and drivers, so I couldn't follow his directions and hit F5 at that time to select "Standard PC".
