I currently run a 40 gig Barracuda IV system drive and a WD JB 100 gig audio drive. Since I have to upgrade the HD on my office PC, I'm pondering replacing the Barracuda IV with a WD JB system drive and recycling the B IV as the office machine HD. Would there be enough of a performance boost to justify messing with an otherwise dependable DAW?

How do you calculate the well depths and widths on qudratics?

I was setting up my studio for the first time last night and for some reason I wasn't getting any signal. Let me list my equipment:

Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro mixer
>MOTU 24I/O
>PC with a P4 2.4 w/a P4PE motherboard running Nuendo 1.5

I got signal into the mixer and the MOTU but no wave forms appeared on Nuendo.

An earlier post got me & many others excited about the newly released Tascam FW1884. The Tascam guy posted the entire spec sheet and everybody drooled.
I've checked dealers and they have never heard of it. I've emailed Tascam (three times) and gotten no response--although it is listed on their website.
Does anybody know anything about it? Really.

Is it all I hear it is?
Or is it just another "ok" 200 dollar mic.

I'm new here and have not seen any reviews or talk about them. I have seen articals compairing it to some very high-endmics,like the U87.

anyone using this new preamp?

I need to mix down to cassette. Can anyone recommend a stand-alone or rackmount stereo cassette deck? I've had good results with a friend's Sony TC-D5M but I wonder if there isn't anything less expensive. I tried a simple ghetto blaster with Aux Ins and the results were disasterous. Thanks for your help.
