Has anyone ever installed a USB pci upgrade card in a mac 9600 or older mac?

I'm looking at different digital video camcorders which of course all have USB ports. My Mac doesn't have one so I've been looking at buying a card made by sonnet.

Any help on this would be great

I need to bounce some tracks to disk with effects printed because I am running out of processor capacity. My questions is when and why is the 3.5db bounce needed? Also do you lose any quality when bouncing? I am keeping everything in the 24bit domain as I still need to work the files in the 24 bit mix. They will be dithered and sample rate converted when the final mix is complete.

Well I've heard people jizz all over the place about this eq being decent for the price compared to some of the "marketed as project studio affordable crap".

I'm interested :). What does it sound like? Neutral? Distorted? What's it good for, like when would I patch it in?

I tend to use up to 16 tracks max in my compositions in Cubase 5 on a Mac.I have 256 megs of Ram, 210 given to Cubase. I try to be very frugal with the use of plugins I tend to use just EQ and compression and a bit of reverb and that's about it. Do you have any recommendations on how to set my disk buffers and memory in the setup/system
window?

Does anyone have any suggestions for tweaking? Im not talking about disableing network cards and zip drives and the normal stuff like that, but the deep system tweaks like Vcache and all of that. I know that there was something posted at DUC a couple months ago, but I cant find it.

Does anyone have any smart ideas for recording stereo guitars and keeping them sounding great in mono? I have been trying to cut down on my guitar double tracking and go for a stereo guitar instead.

Hey- anyone out there running DP on a laptop? I've been kicking around the idea of a Titanium G4 (screen's finally just about big enough for audio...), a Hammerfall, and a rack with a couple of RME converters, a firewire drive, and some nice pre's and comps.. Any thoughts? I'd probably mix analog, and use a combination of analog and Waves stuff.
