I'm looking for input towards the best sound that can come out from the hardware I own now. I'm doing hip hop music and it's come a long way. With all this equipment being taken to it's advantage there is one thing that keeps bothering me. When I record Vocals they seem to be coming out wrong.

..I have this old S1000 with SCSI port on the back, Does anybody know what kind of harddisks (max. gigs)or CDROMplayer I can connect to this port . Do I need to update the software for the sampler? (to which version?)

I just got my hands on a U97 for 400.00. I am aware this is their "entry level microphone". I was wondering has anyone used this mic? What do you think of it? And how would you compare it to a TLM 103?

I'm looking for a stand alone monitor matrix that will create eight separate STEREO headphone mixes from sixteen line level inputs. I envision a relatively simple rackmount mixer with 16 line level ins with each channel strip having eight pairs of knobs (gain and pan) and a master section with eight knobs controlling the master volume of each stereo mix.

Can't get more than 16 native tracks on my system. ( 1 EDS card, MEC, C-16, ADI, A8I, A80, Asus CUSL2 @ 800MHz, 256 RAM).

The manual vaguely refers to the subject as CPU dependant.

How many native tracks can 1 EDS card (in a reasonable system) provide?

So, I finished recording a band late last year in my home studio (I call them demos)and yes the bands that come through here have little money so I do it all, tracking, mixing and. CD prep (notice I didn't say the M word).
