I recently decided id like to give some home recording a go with a friend of mine and try putting together a few half decent songs between us. So i decided to invest in a small amount of gear to help out. I should point out I'm almost a 100% newbie when it comes to recording music. I have a small knowledge!

I'm seriously considering getting a pair of Mackie Thump speakers, but I don't know if I should go with the 12" or the 15". Mackie's website says for vocal use (which is my main focus) the 12"s are better but I don't want to sacrifice any sound quality/power. I will be using these with a Mackie 1402 VLZ mixer. Any thoughts?

I have had a lot of problems with my stuff, and I really want to get more gear soon, but I don't want to commit if I can't even use it properly, so here it goes.

Okay, let me start this off by saying I'm broke. That being said, I just bought a pair of Samson Media One 3a speakers for my home studio. I also have the Logitech X-220. So the thing about the Samsons is they lack a bunch in the low end as expected. But the problem with the Logitechs was they were lacking in the mids, which is definitely the Samsons strong suit.

I've been slow coming to the age of digital recording, so please assume minimum knowledge on my part, despite that I've copiously read all my manuals and watched YouTube videos 'til my brain is mush.

Hello. I have just started recording here in my converted basement/studio. My budget isn't very high at all.

I just finished a cover of Metallica's Broken, Beat, and Scarred, .ALL DRUMS BY ME. which i found the master tracks to, and got the perfect take. From start to finish around 5 weeks went into this song.

I ask because I'm having a kind of stand-still with my productions.
