Started thinking about the various Neve 1073 inspired preamps out there and decided to start a list to compare. Now, I guess any transformer-based preamp is "inspired" by the 1073, but I just started a list of current production models available in the US that have some direct connection to the 1073. In the notes, "clone eq" means an eq that closely resembles the 1073.

I currently use a UA Solo 610, Focusrite ISA One and PreSonus Eureka in my studio.
These are all capable of different colors and all sound great.
However, all my pres are transformer type pres and apparently this adds something to the sound?

Ok so I've ran into this problem ever time I've made a movie. I will eventually run into working on a day where the wind sucks and totally distorts the audio. The bad thing is it is present all over the audio. I always have to cut a ton of low end and doctor the rest so at least some is audible. Then I use a reverb to at least widen the little audio I still have.

I am a aspiring musician, now want to start the recording on a small scale in my home. I want to do voice recording also in my home itself. My home is not sound proofed or sound treated as in the studio's. Can i pursue recordig in this mode with high(Superb) quality of the mix?
