Alrighty first of all this site seems like a very nice place to fill my void of recording knowledge so any answers helping my current situation would be greatly appreciated. :smile:

Right now I'm running through two Behringer xenyx2442fx's ( 1 drums only with a send to the main board for monitoring) before you ask, I do it so I can record an entire band at once - including live drums - and monitor with no latency (from the boards) The directs are then sent to a Tascam US1641 (which also has pre' s) and I am running Cubase LE4 for now.

I need a preamp for recording vocals.

Is anyone familiar with either the Avalon M5 or the Great River ME-1NV?

These are the two I'm debating between. They are basically the same price.

I'm new to adding preamps. So it'd be nice to get help

first off I have a Digi 003 rack and a motif xs8,fantom g8, access virus ti2, and a microKorg .

I hook up all my keyboards to the line inputs of the 003 rack.

Just a quick one.
I want to record drums on Pro Tools on my laptop, but i need a mixer/interface that has 10 inputs (i have a large kit). I've been looking at a Mackie onyx 1620i which seems to suit what i need but i didn't want to spend that much.
any ideas for alternatives?

This is something I am looking for currently. A multitrack recorder with digital I/O and a sequencer to do production with. It needs to be able to record and replay via a multitrack digital interface such as USB or FireWire or eSATA. It also needs to have some type of control signal system, anything but 7-bit MIDI CC, for recording automation in a host program.

Has anyone done an A/B with these? I was very impressed with the MA-100 we used as the mystery mic at Jeremy's place during the ribbon shootout. I've liked various samples and recordings made with the MA-200 and 201. But I've never heard a side-by-side comparison, and I don't see anyone comparing them in the archives. Anyone?

OK to start off, the band I am in is a 4 piece alternative rock band, we all know a lot about our own instruments, although were always open to help, but none of us know a thing about a PA system so please forgive me, Im tryin to get my head around all this.
