hello this is my first post on this site I'm thinking about getting into recording and have a veru low budget. i was wondering if there was a way to use one of these new netbooks to run recording software. I'm sure an external hard drive and a CD rom would have to be in play. but does anyone think this would work. thanks guys

I am currently looking to upgrade the way I mix music. Currently, I have a fast track ultra and I'm just using a pair of 50$ monitor headphones. I have done test recordings of 16 bit, 44.1 Khz vs. 24 bit 96 khz recordings, and I cannot hear a shred of difference. (I know my fast track ultra is capable of recording that bit rate). So I'm thinking it's the fact that I use crappy headphones.

So I just recently got myself a Korg padKONTROL and I'm looking to jump headfirst into using it with a DAW to experiment and make music. I virtually have no experience with any DAW aside from a very small bit with Ableton Live 8, which truthfully I'm not a fan of. I was curious if anyone could point me in another direction.

My name is Jason. I am a musician and a recording hobbyist at best. I have been recording for 15 years, but never at a pro level. I started with pro tools about 8 years ago. Since that time, i have finished one project and i am half way through another.

i have api, purple, groove tubes, osa. i need something clean. don't have tons of cash, this business is hard on the wallet these days. its not for drums. its more for vocals, acoustic guitar, bass di/pod, distorted guitar Micing (through mics such as, sm7b, e609, sm57, beta57a, 421mkII. and for indie rock drum over head/s for "true live drum sounds".
