I am thinking of buying a decent DSLR camera for use on an upcoming vacation I am taking. It shoots HD video also, and samples I have seen look absolutely awesome. But, with video not being the prime function of the camera, there is no audio input.

Is there any merit to this idea?

Have two installations of XP Media Ed. (yeah i know) on my computer?

One with internet and normal features and the other with just the barebones necessary to run music?

I believe I read about this concept somewhere on these forums, but alas I cannot re-find it.

From your recommendations, these are the options I narrowed it down to, but I don't understand the differences from here.

I JUST bought my first pair of studio monitors..for years ive been mixing through nice reference headphones, and just a home stereo system. Ive had a lot of experience so its deffintly time for me to step it up. I have a pair of KRK ST6 2-Way Passive Studio Monitors, but i dont have an amp yet.. Any suggestions on what would work well with these?

I currently own the Portico 5012 dual mic preamp - I do like it a lot but am considering selling it to buy the API R20 Dual mic preamp. With the API I like the idea of having 2 additional high quality DI's plus the reviews on the API seem pretty solid. Just curious if any of you have compared the two or have any thoughts on this?

MotU PCI324 card and 2x 2408MKI connected.
Actual drivers installed, device detected, no probs.

Hey everyone, I was hoping someone out there can help me with setting up my home studio based on the equipment I have. Currently, I have a Mac G5, Mixer, Mbox 1, Microphone, MPC1000 and a keyboard but I don't know how to correctly connect them all together so they work properly and to their potential. I have all the cords needed, let me know if you can walk me through this.
