Newbie here.

I have a DAW that I've been running.
It's pretty old now..but I changed the HD about a year ago.

But I have a new case with a new processor that I scrounged up.
Can I just take my hard drive from the old machine and pop it into the new machine, plug it in and expect it to boot up?

I'm not sure where I should place this question, but I need to find a good sound card for recording vinyl to digital format.

I used to have a SB0600 which was OK, but now it's starting to die. I would like to get something better than this. I've looked around and there seem to be few sound cards that have popped up so I thought I'd see what people would suggest. Here they are:

I just got a multi-track recorder and I'm new to the process so excuse my ignorance. After connecting the LINE output from my amplifier to the recorder and turn up the volume on the recorder, I can hear a consistent hum noise, but when I touch the recorder itself with my hand or one of the 1/4 cord inputs connected to my guitar or the recorder the noise almost completely stops..

Hi, I am new here :) i'v started recording some vocals and at the moment i'm using just a $10 headset to record my vocals. and i want something that records with better quality. I have little knowledge in musical equipments. I understand that i need a preamp ( i just want to record my vocal) and a mic? but I'm using a standard pc soundcard. do i need adopters for the pre-amp?

this is my first i guess serious attempt at recording. any feedback would be helpful, what you liked, what you didn't like, how i can improve, etc.

I'm in the process of putting together my small live/studio set up and aside from the individual bits of hardware on my list, i need to know what else i might need to tempo sync it all together and check I'm not missing anything (there's a tight budget involved you see!)
