PreSonus FirePod or MOTU 8 Pre?
Forums
I'd like to buy either PreSonus' FirePod or MOTU's 8 Pre. I've noticed the MOTU is 150 dollars more than the PreSonus. So what am I getting in the MOTU besides the expandability, ability to switch between sample rates, talkback/listenback, and -20 db switches?

recording a dancer
Forums
hi guys and gals, i'm going to be recording an ep for an indie-ish traditional irish band and one of the members is a dancer. he does a mixture of irish tap and clogging, and i don't have much of an idea regarding how to capture it.

Motown bass
Forums
Ok, so recently, I've been listening to a great deal of Motown, and I'm always amazed by the sound of the bass, specifically in songs like Papa Was A Rolling Stone. I doubt I'll be able to emulate that, and I also understand the bass players were simply great musicians, but just out of curiosity does anyone have any knowledge of the recording process used to capture the bass?

SE Electronics
Forums
Hi guys,
I am looking at getting some microphones to complement our AKG, Shure, Beyer Dynamic and Audio-Technica equipment. Definately going to buy a pair of Neumann TLM 103, but have also noticed the SE Electronics Microphones.
Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with the Neuamnn Mic mentioned and has anyone used SE Electronic Microphones?

Multitracking question
Forums
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums, and somewhat new to recording, i recently bought a multitrack recorder with 2 inputs.
I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to try and record a stereo track of an entire band, and then go back and re-record each instrument individualy. I have an 8 channel mini mixer i can sub mix the stereo track in.

External HD choices; anyone have suggestions?
Forums
I'm looking for something FW (running an iMac 2.16/2G RAM), preferably at least 320G, maybe 500G. I say maybe 500 because I've barely chewed up any of my local 250Gs, but I'm mainly because I don't want to record too much to my local drive.
None the less, I've heard lots of good things about LeCie, Gdrive, RocStor...
help please

USB or FireWire?
Forums
I'm trying to get decent latency with Guitar Rig 3. I'm kinda torn between the USB and FW interfaces. USB's seem to be cheaper but have more probs with the ASIO drivers. The FW's seem a tad more expensive but are stable. I just want to plug into my laptop and jam out in as close to realtime as possible.

Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5012
Forums
I've read favorable reviews on these preamps, but wanted to see if anyone here has used them, and if so, what is your opinion?
Would it be better to get the Seventh Circle preamps, or the Neve's?
