New member needs help building new studio

Hello all I am a guitar player, lead mostly and am looking to venture into the recording side of music production. I am willing to buy a few pieces of "good" equiptment and have to piece the rest together in time rather than get everyting needed right away and regret not having what I really wanted.I want to build a home studio that I can record my bands and offer recording to local bands.

FW400 or FW800 to PCMCIA or ExpressCard Slot

Hey guys -

Anybody know of a specific (Brand and Model) board which works well? I prefer the TI chipset, but have found that the RME Fireface is less picky than others, so any one that works solidly would be great!

Basically, I think I'll need a ExpressCard to FW400 or FW800 adapater such as the one located at this link:

Hum-Drum Help

Greetings. I will be attempting to record a drum set for the first time ever, Monday, and was wondering if anyone would be willing to offer up any advice on getting a decent sound with what I have available. I know the kit is made by Tama and sounds pretty good live. He also has an assortment of Zildjian cymbals. I'm looking for a starting point as far as mic placement goes.
