Vocals are smothering the track?
I feel like my vocals are smothering the track. Am I standing too close to the mic?

De-Essing Vocals
Hi Guys!
I use a dbx166XL Dual Compressor/Limiter connected through the Insert on my mixing console. The only feature I'm using at the moment are it's compression controls, and it's shaping my sound beautifully.
However, I am now wanting to introduce a De-Esser into my chain to remove the sharp S and T frequencies, and I'm wondering -- what are my options?

solving latency when recording vocals over prerecorded track
I'm just dipping my toe into hip hop producing. really really new. I'm looking for help with latency when recording vocals over a track. I load the track into the the program Sonar 6. record the vocals listening to the beat through headphones. when i play back in the computer the rap is off the beat.
Trying to achieve that up front Chris cornell vocal.
I use a Blueberry mic into a RNC and Great River preamp. He vocals sound very up front and warm yet clear. On his new album or Audioslave mid temp stuff where you can really hear his vocals it sounds like verb is there but can't figure out what type. My voice is similar before someone brings that up ha! EQ tips, verb whatever.
Stereo or Mono signal for Vocals?
I have been debating about this with myself for a bit and decided to ask the crew here what your opinions are.
This is the path I use for recording VOCALS.

Noob here, help with vocals !
Well, first of all I'd like to say that I may be on the wrong place, everyone knows a lot more here than I do, and your studios are probably worth a lot more, that if you can say that I have a studio, which I don't
anyway, I am not a pro, and I'm trying to record some tracks in my room
I'm using my Ux1 toneport from line 6 and cubase

pre-amp/channel strip for bass and vocals
Hi all! I'm in the market for a channel strip or preamp that would mainly get use as a bass channel and vocal overdub channel. This being the budget gear forum, my first choice (and right in line with my budget) is the ART ProChannel...

Vocals
I just graduated with my BA in music composition. I'm teaming up with some of my college friends and we're doing album. We can analyze a song to death in four different langauges but when it comes to recording we need some help. We've done lots of recording, but we'd like improve the quality of this CD compared to past albums.

$3,000 budget to improve heavy metal vocals
I only record one guy- he sounds like static-x singer Wayne Static- go listen at http://www.myspace.com/aliveatmyfuneral . Listen to Lord of Worms and Flies. I know that these vocals can sound better- They were recorded through an Audio-Technica AT4040, using a PreSonus TubePre preamp, straight in to the computer.
