I'm looking for a sound interface for recording guitars or bass mainly . no Micing stuff. just to create a refference material for our songs by recording and mixing at home and then doing it at a professional studio.
i dont need many inputs. just need a decent quality sound interface so i can hook up my moitors with it and electric or semi acoustic guitars.

I am looking for an advice for the following setup:

Well I came home yesterday, eager to continue work on an upcoming show where I'll be sat behind an antique upright instead of the usual computer, and as I saddled up to my trusty Peavey DPM C8 I noticed something odd: It was dead. Uh oh.

My band is slated to start recording our first album in a week or so. I plan on recording all the tracks at my home studio using my Roland VS-1824 . We then plan on burning down each track onto CDr's and bringing the lot of them to a pro studio for mixing and mastering where they can dump these data tracks down into their platform (Pro Tools I assume).

Please tell me what U R using and also what doesnt work well. (Also please include if it will be necc. To get a dedicated Firewire 400adapter, to plug into PCMIA card.)

DISCLAIMER: I've already seached on this topic, came up with a few things, but, frankly, I'm just too damn lazy to read through 15+ pages of topics. So, I'm posting it in hopes of an answer. Here's my situation:

My budget: $300 or less.
