What are the best Neve knock-off mic preamps? I've been reading good things about Vintech, Chandler, Great River, and AMS Neve. I'm looking to for something good to use on drums, vocals, and guitars.
I'm not sure whether AMS Neve is the same company that produced the original 1073 and 1081 models that everyone lusts after. Please clarify.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond here.

I've been rocking now for over 13 years, and playing live professionally for most of that time. Toured the world numerous times...yada, yada, yada. The style of music has always been aggressive, in the vein of the more heavy parts of metal, i.e. Metallica, Tool, Sepultura, etc.

I going to start recording on my notebook and I have some ideas on how and what I need to do this. I have a few questions and ideas I'd like to run by everyone to see if I'm on the right track. I wasn't sure whether or not I should post this here or in the DAW forum but I'm going to cover both so I figured I'd post here where its more populated.

In the process of setting up my home studio.

-Shure SM58
-M-audio 410 audio interface
-M-audio Axiom 25 midi controller
-Windows XP (3.2Ghz, 3GB RAM)
-Yamaha AX750 amplifier with Mordaunt Short Genie 5.1 speaker system

I own a venue and I am recording the shows right now by tracking each instrument. Its working, just too much bleed to get that great recording. The room sounds amazing so I want to record the stage area and the mix that with the vocals. Im looking at these two mics..just kinda wanted to see if anyone on here has anything bad or good to say about these two mics.

i can buy a pair of samson resolv 50a for 150 euro used they are a year old.

i was thinking of buying a pair of Alesis m1 actives, but these samson's looked very decent too and for 150 euro it's a steal ...

what to do ?
