i always wondered how you could hook a mic up to a laptop and get good quality sound.

i knew in desktops you had the pci slots but since laptop dont have that i didnt know if it was possible.

I've been composing for a fair while now, and I've just received a commission that is going to require a serious upgrade to my existing kit.

My current studio inventory is this:

I'm working on setting up my home studio and plan on buying the following things. Give me any advice on if my choices are good, or if I should consider something else.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find a midi patchbay.

I don't need some crazy usb strokes software warms keyboard to a smile and then makes the sky turn blue as flowers grow around your bed while your sleeping at night thingy.

I want a decent portable recording rig. I don't want one of those all-in-one units. I definitely want to use a laptop (unless you can convince me otherwise). However, I really don't know which route to go. So, help me out... please.

I am currently recording, editing, mixing with Logic Express on my ibook G4. I have been doing this over the past year and I really love Logic Express.

I plan on doing some recording, including vocals. So far, I have a GT-PRO and PODXT which I could record direct into my computer for bass and guitar, so that's solved.

I currently have a condenser mic that I borrowed from a friend that needs to be run on phantom power. AKG C4000B to be specific (it's all that he has)
