So basically since i purchased this mic (in shipping) it's had me thinking about my signal chain and if
my other components will hold back quality? Signal chain right now is Shure KSM27 mic,Custom made XLR
with starquad sheilded cable with neutric XLR connectors,into MOTU 828mk2 then recorded into Logic Pro 8.0.2

Just wondering what you all think of it for vocals. They have a $50 rebate going on right now and I might pick one up.

What applications do you feel this would be good for?

I like to ear the true sound without coloration. I worked with the Beyer 990 Pro in some studios and liked very much but is but half-open... so the sound is different.

hey all, i was just reading online and saw that AKG just released these new cardioid-only versions of the 414's. they seem interesting, i was just wondering if anyone has actually heard them yet. there don't seem to be any online reviews of them

Hello people, I am wondering from sometime now why when I turn on or off the phantom power on my Avalon 2022 for my AKG 414 BXL II it gives 2 or 3 signal hits for over +3 dbs, an then settles. They work great together, but always behaves the same manner after turning on/off its phantom +48 power. Is this normal, sometimes in the powering of the +48 signal says hello this way?.

Right now I'm looking at picking it up for its price, versatility in pick up pattern, SPL range (155db max SPL I believe), and because I like the sound of AKG mics. I've worked briefly with the perception 200 and I'm wondering how this one differs, if it does at all.

I'd been looking for a condenser mic with a high SPL due to the fact that I record metal with mostly screamed vocals.
