Hi, I'd really appreciate some help from someone more technically-minded! First off, my system is a PC running XP, which also has a Creative Audigy 2 installed on it.

I've been patiently awaiting the release of Focusrite's Saffire PRO ($699), but can't help but wonder if Alesis' offering, the IO 26 ($399!) is all I need. Anyone have any thoughts on Alesis' recording gear in general? Anyone own any of their other interfaces like the IO2 or the Multimix? My requirements are simple - I need a 192 Khz interface with 8 XLR ins, and 2 headphone amps.

I have an SR-16 which i think sounds quite good and am recording some Heavy Rock tracks using Pro Tools via my new POD XT Live.

(If you want to get great guitar sounds and a unit thats easy to program via Line 6 edit using your mouse so you dont have to keep reaching down to the floor to tweak nobs and punch buttons get one of these!)

I've recently bought a new MultiMix USB 8 track mixer. I am going to be using this with my Mac iBook G4 and wondered if anyone has any input on the best/easiest/most reliable software to use.

I'm interested in live recording, and the first to came to my mind was to buy
a multitrack recorder that can give you the option to record simultaniously at least 20 tracks.

my idea its to record it completely raw and then load it in my home studio trough my preamp and then to the desktop 8 ch at a time.

i recently rented an Alesis ADAT hd24xr to record a live performance. things went fine until the event was over, and i lost power to my workstation before i could save the files, or even stop the recorder.
