I own a small project studio which I use mainly to record and produce demos and song ideas ... I also get the occasional tv commercial or radio jingle assignment... I have also scored background scores for short films and tv serials...

My setup is as follows -

I know, newbie question but heres my deal. I'm a drummer looking into offering "drum overdub" type of services. Occasionally do recording of bands, etc. serious hobby at this time. Currently have Soundcraft Spirit Studio 16ch board and 2 ADAT LX-20s with some other outboard gear. I bought the ADATs off EBay with less than 500 hours each and one is giving me errors and taking my tape, etc.

I just got an Allen and Heath System 8, 16 channel mixer... and for starters lots of rotary knobs, the mic/line switches, and some channel faders are scratchy when moved, should i find out what allen and heath recommend for this board for a cleaner? or is there just all around great stuff to clean the knobs and faders ?

I have been mixing ITB but considering building a summing mixer to mix OTB.

So i just purchased a reel for my 388 tape deck and also have a Tascam fw-1804 as my interface what runs to my nuendo setup. I was curious to know how can i use my Tascam 388 to optimize the sound of my recordings by either tracking it in the Tascam or tracking it to my nuendo first.

i am in my fourth year at university and currently undergoing a final year project comparing digital and analog effects.
I need some really in depth information on this subjects, particularly comrpessors or reverb units as i plan to produce an analog and digital version of one or both of these effects for direct comparison.

Hey I was wondering if it is possible for me to take my Marantz CDR300 Portable Recorder and use two mics on it then plug the out SPDIF jack on the back to the SPDIF in jack on the MBOX then put two more mics directly in the MBOX. Is this possible or can the MBox only record two inputs at a time no matter what?

I run octopre mic preamps into a delta1010 and I want to start trying out some analog eq's and compressors. How would I route the analog gear through my setup?

- (optionally) some reverb or stereo basis enhancement
- and PSP Vintage Warmer with a Compressor/Limiter setup
