Digital or Analog? The question of the century!

So, most of my gear up till now is pretty much analog. I use a Mackie 32.8 and a Alesis HD24(which is technically digital) as my main source for recording not to mention a few outboard processors as well. I am toying with the idea to go completely digital. That would suck mainly because i would have to sell most of my gear i have now.

Recording an analog tape deck into pro tools session

Hey everyone. My dad was asking me if theres a way to get his tapes from way back when, and put them into a Pro Tools session so he could mess with them and put them onto CD cause there starting to age. I tried going from the headphone of the tape deck into the input 1 of the digi002 but it was distorted and waving in and out.

Pro Tools with analog mixer and gear

Hello,

I have noticed that a lot of studios have a G5 pro tools equipement and a great analog mixer like SSL Neve or trident. Most of them are equipped with great analog preamp and comp too.

So I'm wondering how those studios use PT and analog gears?
I mean Do they first plug mics to preamp and preamp to PT, and PT to mixer? (or another path?)

analog or digital?

ive been talking to my teacher at tafe and was checking out some other people opinions on the matter. I'm thinking of getting a desk to get me going and were wonder what you think is better for getting me going. an anolog or a digital desk. my teacher said a 2 inch 24 track would be a good starter because anolog has a much fatter sound. what do you guys think.

analog to 192?

hello all,
I was wondering what you think would be the best way for me to get my analog preamps (avalon, and ua) into my 192 I/O. right now the 8 analog ins are taken up by my digi pre. do I have to buy an expansion card or is there another way to get more analog ins.
thanks!
