Digital to Analog Reel to Reel Tape!
I'm using a Pioneer RT-909 1/4" R2R deck at 15ips to record some personal tapes mixed from two Mac computers which are outputting from iTunes via mini-jacks wired through a Gemini PS-04 3-Channel 10" DJ Mixer with FX.

Analog to digital? Advice needed
Hello, first time posting here.
Well, here's the scoop. I've got a home recording studio. It's an 8 track TEAC 1/2 reel to reel. It's powered by a kick-a$$ harmon Kardon tube. I've been using a decent Mackie 16 channel mixing board, decent tube preamps , standard out-board effects rack.

Analog mixers vs. . audio interfaces
Good day,
I am wondering which would be more conducive to a better (IE clear) sound, a firewire preamp (eg the PreSonus firebox, or Focusrite Octu Pre)
OR a good analog mixer (Mackie DFX12) combined with the A/D converters on an m-audio audiophile 2496?
Which produces a higher fidelity sound?
or is the difference marginal?

analog/digital consoles tell me about your setup..
Hey all. question. How do you guys deal with mixing, with analog consoles? do most people, use, there inserts as outputs to there converters? or, the direct outs? so, the signal passes on the way, in, and, then mixing is done in the DAW>?
Do some, run the ins and outs, of there soundcard to there analog mixer? and if so, how do you approach this?
analog kick pedal with midi kick pad
I wanted some comments on how to go about using an acoustic drum set, but replacing the kick drum with a trigger pedal.
Now the real thing here is...I need it to be a double bass setup for the heavy music as well.
midi kick pads? And which one? Or what else is good for this?

Tubes, solid state or analog? best combination?
My recordings/mixes need a little warmth.
I record with Shure/AKG condensers, into Focusrite Reds, into Pro Tools.
My choices are:
Use tube mics with solid state pre, use solid state mics with tube pre,
or, use a combination of the above, plus, going from pro tools to 2-track tape to add warmth, then back into pro tools.
WEAKEST LINK IN THE CHAIN. ANALOG-to-DIGITAL HANDCUFFS?
really easy for someone who knows:
i run a pc with an m-audio delta 66 soundcard. it's a delta 66 omni to be exact (they don't make them anymore...really stylish).
it has a breakout box with mic preamps, phantom, and decent A/D converters.
i'm about to spend about a grand on a dedicated AD/DA converter.
Integrating a analog mixer with a m-audio projectmix I/O
Hello all,
I have a projectmix I/O (M-audio) that I am using with Cubase. The unit works well as a DAW controller, and has also been OK as a input device for mic's and line level signals.
