Description

Audio interfaces convert microphone and instrument signals into a format your computer and software recognize. The interface also routes audio from your computer out to your headphones and studio monitors.

It acts as the bridge between the music you create and your DAW (digital audio workstation). Audio interfaces often include built-in preamps, headphone jacks, and monitor controls, and they come in various types to accommodate Thunderbolt, USB, FireWire, Ethernet, and PCI connections. Plus, audio interfaces are available at several price points, from budget-friendly units to advanced professional models. If you plan on making music using a computer, you'll need an audio interface!

audio interface, software explained

So I recently purchased a PreSonus Firebox with the Cubase LE 4 that comes with it.

But when I go into the device setup in Cubase, it asks for an output...

I thought the output was the firewire connection from the computer to the audio interface...

Whenever I try to record, no sound comes through...

Is there something I'm missing here?

My computer has no firewire ports so I need an interface that uses usb. I have a couple in mind but I want to here what more experienced individuals have to say. Thanks a lot.

Which audio interface should I choose?

Okay, so I have 5 down to choose from:

2. Tascam US 144 USB 2.0 w/Cubase ($149.00)
3. Tapco Link.FIrewire 4x6 w/Tracktion ($100.00)
4. EMU 0404 USB 2.0 w/ Cubase ($200.00)

I'm not sure which one to go with...

Looking for Audio Interface around $170?

Hey all.

I'm looking to buy a good audio interface for home recording for around $170 .

Gonna be using a SM57 (but I still want an interface with phantom power if I want to get a condenser mic in the future) with it to record acoustic guitar/vox...and maybe a lil electric guitar on the side. I will be using a HP laptop with Vista 64 bit.
