best mic for a bass-baritone narrator with a silky string?
Just wondering what you folks with good ears would suggest.
bass
i hvae a direct out on my bass amp that I have been using to record but it isn't sounding right.
I only have an sm 57 or 58 (not sure at the moment which) to mic anything with.
would it be worth a try to mic the bass with this and also use the direct out?

i'm lookin to get an abient roomy bass gtr sound
i've got some condensers and dynamics, i'm generally a mic the cab up close kinda guy, but i want a amb sound for this session i'm workin on, and i don't want to use fake reverb.
its for a fast punk style sound, i'll prob still close mic it though, but i want to be able to choose what i want, when i mix it.
Recording Bass Tracks
I've been looking around to find a good DI, mainly to record my bass tracks. In the past, I would always just mic my bass amp, but I found that it's fairly difficult to get a good sound.

Double tracking bass-Any thoughts?
I know that guitar is sometimes double tracked (what I understand as recording the same part twice) to fill out the sound or add a kind of chorus effect. Is this commonly done on bass as well?

recording bass guitar
I'll be brief. i'm just looking for a starting point, but the more specifics, the better.
You're recording basic pop-rock stuff. The bassist brings in...let's say a P-Bass, to keep it simple. He brings in his bass amp too, which is a decent one.(I'm not up on the sought after bass amps, sorry)

recording bass vocal
Howdy to all,
We are doing a resitation type country song, and the vocalist has a deep bass voice.
On play back, over club speakers (MP3 CD), it is way too basie.
My question****
What do I have to do to componsate for this?
Thanks in advance,
Walt

Where the kick and bass sit (EQ).
Alright, I'm interested in finding out where you people put the meat of your bass and bass drum and how they sit in relation to one another. This is certainly subjective, so I'll just ask you to respond to how you typically adjust the bass and bass drum in relation to each other.
