Bass EQing
Here's one for the more experienced engineers and home studio veterans: tell me if there's anything wrong in how I'm EQing my bass parts. So, I use an e906 (in neutral, which is really just an e609) to mic the bass cab.

Side-Chain Bass Compression?
Hello All:
I've noticed that commercial productions have a much more squashed low-end dynamic range than my own recordings.

Reason, need plain bass
Hey.
I'm doing a simple midi project, in which I use Malström DJDM BASS as a sort of constant one-note background for ambience.
The problem is the sound "sways" too much, I just want a very plain sound that does not vibrate too much. What can I do to modify the sound so that it's more like a constant plain sound rather than a vibrant one?

jazz bass vs. classical bass
Dear all,
I'm wondering if anyone can share their experience recording a solo Classical bass (with piano accompaniment)?
I had only recorded acoustic bass in jazz ensemble, never as a solo Classical instrument, I gather the bassist will use bow more than a jazz player. In that case, what factors should I keep in mind when choosing microphone and recording technique?

Reducing bass frequencies
i need to do a bass drop in a couple songs that I'm recording for a band.
I'm not sure if thats the right term or not but its the sound you hear that sounds like a dropout.
if you could help me and advise me on how to do it i would be greatly appreciative.
thanks!

Tracking / Mixing bass
How do you usually record bass?. I remember reading a post here where this guy was giving some tips. He was always using both DI and mic`ed up cab. Then he would compress the DI signal and boost the low end on the mic signal (or vise versa)... And then blend the signals... I tried to search for that thread with no luck.

Nickelback bass gtr sound (photograph)
HI Guys,
was wondering does Mike (aka shipps) still visit this forum, I remember a while back we were lucky enough to have him reply to a thread I posted about the vocals on the hysteria album and am now wondering what his approach was on this nickelback track as far as bass is concerned.

Decided to mic bass and guitar need some help.
I have been using a POD for guitar and just a preamp for bass as a DI. I use a SOLO 610 for the POD and an LA610 for the bass.
I plugged in one of my guitars and amps today and wailed away full open. Although it's maybe 18 watts it was loud and glorious. I did things I just could not do direct with the POD.
