Recording and Mixing Bass
Ok, so I am fairly new to recording an mixing. I'm using Logic 8 and an emu 0404usb interface. One thing that I have never been satisfied with is my bass tone. What is the best way to record bass? What's the best way to mix it? How do you guys record and mix bass? I'm playin/recording hard rock and metal type music.

In and Out Fuzziness Sound on Bass Input
Very occasionally I'm picking up a fuzziness on the bass input. I don't chance a thing and it appears, then after a minute or so may go away just as inexplicably without me changing anything or even moving.

Bass tracking with a Tone Hammer pedal/DI
Did some bass over tracking last night, I did not like the sound the bassist had gotten during drum tracking. The bassist brought a Conklin 7 string bass, nice instrument and this Aquilar box

Recording Bass Direct: Any tips?
Hi there,
I'm recording (and playing) electric bass for an album I'm working on. I'm a guitar player and have never recorded electric bass before. I've had good success Micing an acoustic bass but this is all new to me.
I've asked around and the general consensus is that recording direct is the way to go with my set-up (not having a bass amp and living in a townhouse). :)

Recording upright bass, piano and acoustic guitar
I've been asked by a friend to record him for a college audition. He plays the upright bass, but also needs me to record piano and acoustic guitar.
My question is what microphone would be best for these instruments?
I have a Shure SM57...would that be sufficient? If yes, for which instrument or all of the instruments? If not, what mic would be best?
Reliable way for guitar to simulate bass?
I don't have a bass to use and I'm far too lazy to program all those MIDI notes when the results don't sound nearly close to a bass. I would much rather plugin my guitar DI and process the signal somehow. I am using Logic so any plugs would have to be Mac compatible and in AU format. I have tried Pitch Shifter, Vocal Transformer and Time and Pitch Machine.

Bass Guitar, Snaps, pops, what to do?
What techniques can I use to keep the volume swells at controlled when a bass player pops and slaps his strings? The popping tends to be the worst but the input meter isn't peaking. The bass player is not using any external effects, but does have a built in limiter.

Does this sound valid for mixing Bass and Kick?
This is another crapper idea, one of those ideas that's either a spark of genius, or total trash. Bear with me...
Boutique Bass Amps
My bass player is looking at some boutique amps for medium-sized clubs and outdoor fair/festival stages.
Does anybody out there know anybody personally who is using the Phil Jones Bass amps/cabinets?

mixing advice - acoustic bass tracks
I'm trying to do my first mixing project with a bunch of tracks I've just recorded. I recorded some bass tracks four different ways to let me choose/create the best sound later and now would love some advice.
