recording classical guitars

hey all!

I will be recording a classical guitar trio and I need your guys' input and help. I want this to sound great for them so i'm trying to do my research now. While i was studying recording i spent most time on recording popular music rather than classical, which is why i need help. I need help in choosing Mics and placement.

Recording classical string quartet

Greetings,

I just found this forum and see a wealth of experience here. I will be doing some recording with a string quartet and plan to post here to get feedback. I have an Avenson Audio STO-2 omni pair. My first tries will be with a home brew Jecklin disk. I plan to work with the SQ trying out venues and mic. arrangements. Any pointers and encouragement are welcome.

Thanks.

Recording classical choir..

I am going to record a classical choir and I need some advise

The location is a medium sized (old) church. Carpet on the floors and walls of wood. The ceiling high is aprox 10-12 meters. The natural reverberation of the church is pretty good. (Not the 5 second reverbs u get in big stonechurches but not completely dead either, something in between)

Recording classical grand piano with Schoeps MK21s

Hi guys,
my question is about one of the most demanding acoustic instrument for the recording engineer: classical grand piano.
I'm a pianist and I wanted to record my live recitals, so I began with RODE NT4, then Neumann KM183s and finally Schoeps CMC5 with MK21 stereo matched (I choose MK21 over MK2 because of non stellar acoustic venues where I play).

jazz bass vs classical bass

Dear all,

I'm wondering if anyone can share their experience recording a solo Classical bass (with piano accompaniment)?

I had only recorded acoustic bass in jazz ensemble, never as a solo Classical instrument, I gather the bassist will use bow more than a jazz player. In that case, what factors should I keep in mind when choosing microphone and recording technique?
