Description
A digital audio workstation (DAW) is an electronic device or application software used for recording, editing and producing audio files. DAWs come in a wide variety of configurations from a single software program on a laptop, to an integrated stand-alone unit, all the way to a highly complex configuration of numerous components controlled by a central computer. Regardless of configuration, modern DAWs have a central interface that allows the user to alter and mix multiple recordings and tracks into a final produced piece.

Best method for mixing DAW tracks?

I'm sure this is not a new question, and I've asked it once myself over in the MOTU forum, but didn't get answers that quenched my thirst...so I'll ask it again here.

What are people's opinions about the best way to mix tracks recorded to a host-based DAW? Do you prefer to mix in software or use a console? If the latter, do you prefer a digital or an analog console?

Dumping ADATS - Go to DAW or Hard Disk

I have lots of outboard gear and don't want to stop using all of it. Great River, VMP-2, Cranesong, Lexicon, RNC's, etc. Have a 24 channel Mackie that could stay or go.
I would like to record either DAW or computer. Problem is, after reading 'till my eyes bleed, I'm not much closer than I was. Need 24 to 32 channels of digital with use of plugins editing, and etc.

What Would Be The Perfect DAW?

FishKid askes:
"Since we're in DAWworld I'll throw out a topic: I think it might be interesting to hear what Roland users think would be the perfect DAW.
I mean here we have a new DAW coming out almost every week and still, at least from what I read, none of them is "just right", that perfect blend of features and stability. They're all missing one or more key feature sets."

My first attempt at a DAW recording

I mentioned some time ago that a friend and I were working on writing / mixing & producing a J-pop song (Japanese / Euro Pop) for the Japanese market! It has taken me ages, mainly due to buying & renovating a house / my job / having a girlfriend / and being Irish (a lot of drinking). As a result I have put in only around 1 hour every week to this project.

digi001 and MOTU DAW?

I am not quite ready to go for my mix+ setup, but at the same time still want to experiment.

I am just about to purchase a new 466

question is - Would I be able to run both a Digi-001 and MOTU interfaces on the same G4, using the 001 with PT LE, and the MOTU stuff with DP - just switch which interfaces I would want

or would there be conflicts?
