Description
A digital audio workstation (DAW) is an electronic device or application software used for recording, editing and producing audio files. DAWs come in a wide variety of configurations from a single software program on a laptop, to an integrated stand-alone unit, all the way to a highly complex configuration of numerous components controlled by a central computer. Regardless of configuration, modern DAWs have a central interface that allows the user to alter and mix multiple recordings and tracks into a final produced piece.

minor issue with new daw

Hi all! I've just set up a new dedicated recording PC and have two songs in progress now. The PC is a Dell with Pentium 4 HT, 1 Gig SDRAM, and an 80 gig HD. I optimized the PC for recording pretty well, and plan on adding another HD for audio files soon. The only issue I have so far is that I'm getting some "sticking" on playback.

preparing my DAW system

I am getting ready to add a Seagate 7200 RPM external drive to my setup and don't know enough about computers to be able to make some prudent choices. For example:

1. Do I want to partition this drive?

2. Do I want to put the DAW application on the 80GB internal drive - or on the other external drive (an 80GB Maxtor), and use the Seagate just for audio files?
