Im goin to sell my Fostex vf-160ex and I'm looking at what my options are for computer recording. I made the mistake of buying a stand alone unit rather than something a little more idealistic for long term recording. My plans were to hook a Berihger ultragain-8000 lightpipe up to it so i would have 8 channels there and the 4 in the back.

Does the Digidesign 002 support 800 meg firewire connections or just the
older 400 meg standard?

Which do you think is a better control surface for Pro Tools?

I have been recording several years. I presently have 2 Fostex D90's, ART Dual MP preamps, Roland SRV2000, and Studio Master 16 channel console. Myself and the bands I have recorded have been very happy with the recording results. I am looking at upgrading to a Digidesign 002r and Pro Tools Le7.0 and MAC PowerPC dual G5.

Is the Digidesign digi 002 Factory Bundle Pack worth the extra 500 dollars?

Has anyone heard these mic preamps, if so how do you rate them?

I heard that the Apologee interface was not only compatable with Pro Tools HD but better than the Digidesign 192 interface. They are about the same price. Has anyone worked with or have any info on those apologee units. pro's - con's?
