In the thread "Pro Tools & reasons I hate Digidesign," Kurt mentioned that there is a way to record up to 18 tracks using Digidesign LE 002. Is this possible? There are only 8 in's, how can you get up to 18? Or am I mistaken?

I'm thinking about purchasing Digidesign's LE rack. I have a bunch of outboard gear (ie EQ, Compression, etc). I've looked on the back for aux in's and didn't notice any. Does it work well with outboard analog gear.

I'm about to purchase an 002 Rack... most places have it for $1,199, but I'm wondering how close to $1000 I can get, any connections out there? any recommondations?

Right now I have: Mackie HR824's, Behringer HR400 headphone amp, dbx376, Bellari RP503, BBE 882, (2) RNP/RNC. As of now the BBE isn't even connected to the 002, and the RNP/RNC's aren't connected to the outs, so I can't use them as inserts in Pro Tools. I plan on getting two more pre's/compressors and another channel strip within the next few weeks.

how shoul di conect the Digidesign 888 interface to my g4 laptop? the interface has a pci cable same as the 192 i/o interface but i dotn no how to conect it. is there a pci/firewire converter or external pci card i could get?

Are the converters of the ApogeeRosetta 800 like or better then the digi design HD96 or 192 ?

With the new X-Firewir card we can use the Rosetta 800 as a sound card or interface for the PC.

Ok I've got a dilemma. I have a Tascam FW-1884 which can now be used as a control surface for Pro Tools LE (with HUI emulation). I can use the pre's on my FW-1884 and send them through ADAT optical into a Digi 002 rack. Now. it would be nice to have 4 more pre's that the 002 would bring to the table. I'd have another piece of software to screw with, and the Pro Tools name on my gear list.

A few people I asked tell me its good while others say it's worthless.

Does anyone have a good working opinion on this board? Pre's?
