Mackie Onyx 1640 i - searching for PC laptop with firewire!
Greetings all,
This is my first post, and I literally signed up specifically for input to my issue. I have the Mackie Onyx 1640 i firewire integrated mixer, and I really want to find a reliable, powerful PC laptop with firewire. I'm shopping online and I can't seem to find anything.
Firewire card questions
Is there an advantage in using a FW 800 PCI-E card over a FW PCI card ?
Also I have read about 32 bit / 64 bit cards and buses.
Does this relate with the DAW software being 64 bit ? Or is it just the compatibility with the operating system ?
therefore having no affect on audio software operation ?

Advantage to both USB and FireWire Audio Interfaces?
I currently have a 21" iMac and an [="http://apogeedigital.com/products/duet2.php"]Apogee Duet2[/]="http://apogeedigita…"]Apogee Duet2[/] audio interface. I'd like to expand to have at least two more audio channels (e.g.
Looking for a 24in/24out optical to firewire interface
I had my heart set on a MOTU 2408 mkii to exactly what I need. Come to find out the firewire looking output wasn't a firewire output. So now my hunt is on to find just a straight 24in/out optical interface that sends the signal via firewire. I don't want to combine many units together to give me 24in/out, I don't need extra bells and whistles on it, since nothing else will be used.

On the Topic of Firewire Cards and Thunderbolt. AVID.
Avid are ditching the 003 line. The Digi interfaces are being dropped. No more support. If you own a Digi, it's time to sell or you can wait for the next thing. The next thing you say? Yeah. I know this is going to cause an uproar when it get's released. We've seen the video. Here it is:
Problem with Audio Quality using Firewire Interface
Hi everyone,
I am using a Behringer FCA202 interface to record various instruments into my PC via firewire. The PC is running Windows XP 32-bit. I am using a fully functional Behringer mixer as a preamp into the interface. The recording software I'm using is Audacity.
FireWire 800/400 + Focusrite?
Hello there. I am going to buy a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP interface, which will be working along with Shure SM7B or Shure Beta 58a. Right now I just need to choose which FireWire to use and I have no idea. Is there any difference between FireWire 800 or 400? And most important is 800 for every computer with FireWire? (got ACER 7730g)

FireWire for PC?
I am currently considering a new digital interface for recording. I am looking at several different products such as PreSonus and Tascam. The PreSonus unit I am looking at is Firewire based and the Tascam is USB. The PreSonus is nice in that you can keep adding units to increase capabilities.
