FireWire
Apple computer's version of the IEEE 1394 standard, which is a high-speed data exchange protocol. FireWire provides a single plug-and-socket connection on which up to 63 devices can be hung. Additionally, the technology allows for hot-swapping devices, while data transfer allows for speeds of up to 400 Megabits per second.

Replacement for Firewire 610
I've had enough of M-Audio.
With the vista driver fiasco of 2007 on my firewire solo box, I thought I'd give them another try, so I bought a firewire 610 on the basis of "I need the extra sockets" and "maybe it's time to upgrade".

This is an easy to understand explanation about firewire connections both 800 and 400 speeds. The credit belongs to Metric Halo for compiling the information. Also, this info is available as a pdf from the linked page.

Firewire 800 and USB 3.0
Okay so I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I want to know when in the heck are we going to see a refresh in interface technology that uses either Firewire 800 or USB 3.0? Both of these have much faster transfer rates than their predecessors, and most quality computers have Firewire 800 and I believe USB 3.0 is becoming more common place.

Windows 7 & Firewire interface, keep having to reset the legacy drivers. Annoying!
When I got my new DAW, I ended up finding out about the legacy driver trick to make your firewire interface work with Windows 7. However, I have to undo and then redo it every single time I reboot my computer. It sucks! Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening? If it helps, my interface is a Focusrite Saffire Pro 10IO
Thanks!
What is the difference between a firewire interface and USB?
Which one is better and why?
I am curious as to if a USB interface would be fine for what I am looking for. I just want something rock solid that does not have any audio drop outs or clicks and pops. Not looking to do tons of simultaneous tracks. Maybe 3 at once at most.
thanks for the help

What's up everyone! This is my first time posting here.
I have a PC. I use the M-audio Firewire 410 sound card, my Behringer Eurorack UB-1622fx pro mixer and my Sony A/V receiver and this is how I had it set up.
Sony A/V reciever's CD input TO Behringer Tape output
M-audio Firewire 410 Line output 1/2 TO Behringer Channel 5/6 input.(Stereo)
