Looking at two 24-Bit Multitrackers (for expanding my studio operation to include location recording)...the Tascam 2488 & the Korg D1600.

Of these two units, does anyone know the mfg./model# of the onboard ADC ...or, more importantly...how the conversion/recording quality compares between the two?

Just want to know what is more professional from the following format's :-
For example if i want to buy Yamaha DM200096 v2 to connect it to the Rosetta 800 or the pro tools HD 192 I/O .. In general what is the best format from the following :-
1-ADAT
2-AES/EBU
3-TDIF (Tascam).

1. Broadcast wave 32bit, 96KHz?

Im trying to get a website together. On the home pae, I'm using a flash plugin that permits streaming of a loaded Mp3 file.

I loaded one at 96khz. It plays streams ok. A few buffer breaks. But i was wondering whats the best way to do so ? A quality vs size ratio.

...For me, the basic setup is:

CDR recorder (for the client CD that day)

DAT (2 trk safety- a clone of the signal the CD gets)

multitrack 24 bit HD (each mic on it's track, plus 'hot' and 'safe-level' 2 trk mixes)

Pyramix PC if I know there will be post work,(same signals as the 24bit HD).

I am thinking of rounding out my setup with Logic 7 (I'm running PT LE on a digi 002rack).

I'm looking at picking up a couple of SATA drives, setting them up in RAID 0, and using them as my audio drive. I heared or read somewhere a while ago that there was a specific cluster size (?) or other format option that is optimal for reading large files. Is this the case? Anyone know what this is?
