What pieces of gear would be the best investment?

How does this gear sound for a home/amature studio setup?

PreSonus Firebox
Shure SM57s
MXL 960 Tube Compressor
dbx 266XL Compressor/Gate

Planning to buy:

1x RME Fireface
1x Behringer ADA8000
2x AKG C414 B-XLS
3x Sennheiser E604
1x AKG D112 OR 1x Electro-Voice RE-20

Already Own:

2x RODE NT5
1x Shure SM57
1x Shure SM58

I'm talking about a 3 way switch with standby on the bottom, off in the middle & on is up.

to go from standby to on you have to move through off. I was told that it was off so briefly that it did not matter.

Seems like off, standby, on is a better way.

Please edumacate me on whether this matters or not.

This kinda' belongs to no forum here at RO, but since it's older DAW stuff, I thought I'd ask for forgiveness and post it here for some advice.

I haven't seen any of the original MOTU stuff on eBay in a LONG time to get comparable value, thus my question.

Hi there, we currently record our sessions direct to DAT ( L and R ) through one main mixer that carries signal from our individual mixers but the mix is never perfect with keyboard sound changes etc and we'd like to be able to fix things up after the fact ...

So Me and a friend are building a new studio, smaller in size, mostly low budget. I made a list of mostly all round mics, but high quality. The guy at the store gave us "better" options. What I would like, is a professional opinion on the gear we would like, and the gear he thinks is better...

I've been rocking now for over 13 years, and playing live professionally for most of that time. Toured the world numerous times...yada, yada, yada. The style of music has always been aggressive, in the vein of the more heavy parts of metal, i.e. Metallica, Tool, Sepultura, etc.
