Guitar Compression
If you have a song with a lot of different guitar parts that need taming to blend together better, would it make any sense to put them all into a sub-group and use one main compressor on them all, or would you treat them all separately?

Active FET preamp(acoustic guitar) direct.
...to the board, or analog audio microphone direct to the board? Pros and Cons? Suggestions?
I will be recording a blues medly with acoustic guitar and a single voice. By the nature of the song, the medley is better played and sung simultaneously than overdubbed, and I need not be concerned with the physical placement or presence of an additional mike.

Classical Guitar on a budget
I have an Alesis board, Alesis AI3 Converters, 2 SM57s, 1 AKG 3000b, an AKG 590S dynamic, a Audio-Technica MB4000C condensor, 2 Radio Shack dynamic omnis (made by Shure) and a waiting client. I have never recorded classical guitar before and would like to know what others have tried on such a low budget.

Guitar Solos
What do you normally do to guitar solos? Do you put them right in the center? I am just looking for ideas. Do you take a different approach when there are no rhy gTRS behind the solo?...

Guitar recording mics
I just wonder which mics are good for guitar recording. So, which mic would be the best for a tight, distorted guitar?
I helped some friends recording a demo/CD and we couldn't get a good sound. Right now I can't remember which mics we used, but we want to go over it again.

Beyer M160 guitar mics
These mics have been recommended to me by a few people that I trust, but I've been too lazy to find one to get my ears on. Does anyone have an impression of this mic that they'd like to share? :)

Guitar Phase questions
I've been tracking a "Christian Death Metal" band for the last week and a half. The guitars were all recorded by Micing a 4X12 cab with a 421 and a 57. Both close and faceing the cab about 6 inches away. They seemed to be in phase.
