Recording Solo Jazz Guitar
Hello everyone,
I posted a similar topic a while back in the "Recording Studio" forum, and as of late I have a bit more gear to choose from this time. So, that said, here goes...
How might you all utilize the following gear in order to record a professional Jazz guitarist playing *solo* electric guitar?

electric guitar, EQ before or after mic?
So let's say you're recording an electric guitar, multitrack, to be used in a band setting.
Do you:
Dial in EQ on the amp, using the low/mid/hi knobs, to the way you/the guitarist want it, then just record that signal and keep it relatively flat from there?

acoustic guitar pickup eq settings
I just picked up a pretty high-endpre/di and eq unit (Speck electronics) and compressor (FRM RNC), and i'm having trouble getting what i feel to be natural sounding results with them (it's a little better than without them, but not a ton).

Used/ Underoath Guitar Sounds.
I know Quinn from the Used uses a modeling head live, but does anyone know how to replicate that killer distorted tone in the studio. Im beginning to think it must be a model of some sort, because ive used a Marshall JCM 2000, JCM 900, Dual Rectifier, Maverick, and Recto-verb and no matter the mics or pres i cant get that clear dark distorted sound.

Recording Bass Guitar on an Audigy 2 ZS Platinium
Hello everyone, I'm kinda new here and i have a doubt (i dont know if this is the right place for it, but ill give it a try)
I have a bass and an Audigy 2 ZS Platinium =), and i want to know if I can simply plug the bass directly in the front panel (LineIn2) and record or should i do something else to get better sound quality?
differentiating the bass drum from the bass guitar
What's the best way to master the bass drum track to make it sound different from the bass? And why is the bass i record, which i record directly, sound blurry and muddy and each note is not precise?
Menacing CLICK during guitar recording in SoundForge7
Ok here's the deal. Everytime I record guitar into soundforge 7, I get a clicking noise. I just recorded some vocals and everything was fine, no click. I am Micing my amp with a Shure sm57, which does not touch the grill. I have tried different patch cables, made sure there is no clipping what so ever, and also tried a different mic, the EV ND257B.
