Hi all. My band is a three piece (guitar, bass and drums) rock band, playing original music. Recently we've been recording some things using loops. The question I have is this...How could I best monitor the loops from behind the drums using headphones?

Anybody have any tips for this? I'm thinking we'll take a DI right off the organ, then I'll put a 414 on the Leslie (my only other available option for mics would be a 57).

I'm wondering if i should use the pad on the 414? i'm thinking i want to get the mic as close as possible to minimize bleed, and these guys play at a fairly loud volume...

I'm mixing a bunch of tunes that will support a live performance (a play). Most likely the performance will be in some sort of hall with tons of reverberant decay. I've never done anything like this before and I'm worried about making inaudable (or too wet) tracks.

does anyone use the free tube emulator rubytube by silverspike with Ableton live 6?

i use it with Cubase le and love it but the demo of Ableton doesn't find it (as opposed to all the other au and vst plugins on my macbook.

I have an Echo Layla 20 with 8 1/4" ins and outs including a L/R monitor outs. How would I go about playing something back I recorded and record with it without bleeding the live sound back into the recording.

I'm wondering if there is any way to eliminate the high-freq hiss that is picked up when recording in live concert halls. There may be no way considering my set-up: 2 dynamic cardiod mics placed X stereo running into a Boss Br-864 (portable digital 8track recorder). I currently use the "hiss reduction" function in Adobe Audition to eliminate most of it...

I've always used SM57 and SM58 for live vocal mics. Good mics no doubt, but I've begun to consider gettting something different.
My main gripe with the 57/58 is its tight pattern, I feel like I have to eat the mic, plus I play guitar while singing, which makes working the mic even hard, since I can't hold it.
