MASTERING: Using pro-techniques at home?
Hi,
I took my album to Masterdisk in New York and the engineer wrote down information on this piece of paper.
What is this, what information is in the columns, and how can I use this technique in my mastering projects (is there a blank template like this out there somewhere)?
I'm sure it's obvious to most of you, but the right column are the album's track titles.

Mastering Lingo Question
I was reading a mastering book and he described the some music as:
A. "there was no transient information"
and
B. "the sound was grainy and literally lifeless"
yet he said the music was very loud.
What do those two descriptions actually mean in terms of the process that created those characteristics.

mastering a choir
Hello out there,
I'm relative new in audio mastering and I have a problem with mastering a choir in Wave Lab. The mix i have sounds very cold, hard and flat. I've spent a lot of time to get a warm and open sound - without success. I hope that sombody can give me some recommendations about how to achieve a good choir sound.
Thanks in advance,
madmax

What format are masters?
When an artist wants to own his master, are they actual tapes or CDs? If so how do they get to that format from the CD? I know the distributors need a certain format to copy the CD but what format is that?

Mixing/Mastering Tutorial DVD's?
Can anyone make any suggestions?
I already got the UA Tutorial Onscreen DVD. That was nice. I'd like to check out some more, perhaps some with a bit more depth.
I'm especially concerned with recording, equalizing, and compressing vocals. Also to learn some more mastering tequniques.

Pitch shift/speed variation at mastering stage
Hi,
I've been wondering how common a practise is it to subtely change the pitch/speed of a track when mastering it - I'm talking about mastering to tape here, so let's say + or minus 1% to 4% speed... or more? Is this ever done?
Any ideas would be welcome,
Thanks -
