Mastering Chain
I was wondering if there was a "better way" to process your final mixes in terms of dither and resampling, if necessary.
I assumed,
1. Highest quality final mix.
2. Limiter, master effects etc.
3. Dither to 16-bit.
4. Downsample to CD Sample Rate from 48khz to 44.1khz
Is this a rule or does it matter.

Send data CD-R or 1/4" to be mastered?
I'm recording on Protools, then putting my final mix onto 1/4" tape.
Assuming the Mastering House has both computer editing and 2-trk tape machine, should I take them a 1/4" tape or a CD with the stereo files on it and have them dump it to tape (cuz they might have a 1/2")?
Just wondering what you guys might think.

Can Plosives Be Fixed in Mastering?
I have a couple of tracks with one or two plosives on the lead vocal that I just could not avoid in the tracking. Is there any way to correct this in the mastering process? I know that it would be better to avoid this and not have to "correct" it after the fact, but I was just wondering what you guys can do.
Thanks,
Rob

Mastering Facilities/Engineer in LA?
We're finalizing a project for a fairly well-known singer/songwriter and, for logistic reasons, are looking to master in the LA area. We've got a few initial appointments set-up at a few of the larger mastering facilities (The Mastering Lab - Doug Sax, Bernie Grundman, Precision Mastering).

Pre Mastering Dynamics
Hello,
I'm just wrapping up a four song demo for some young rockers who play a very similar style to Tool, Poison the Well, Deftones, Primus, etc.
They need a CD to take to clubs to solicit live gigs.
