recording/mixing using MacBook Pro
I've been using my old computer (P4 1.6) for years for music production and currently want to purchase a new machine. For my own convenience, I'd like to aquire a laptop for music production (I'm using Reason, Cubase SX and Firepod).
Is anyone using MacBook Pro for recording and mixing purpoase? I'd like to hear some opinion, thanks!

Levels of individual elements when mixing
Hi,
I'm a producer of electronic music from Canada, a newbie on this forum.
I have somewhat of a problem when trying to balance individual elements during mixing of a song.
Trance genre requires specific things like a present and strong backbeat with a pronounced kick that doesn't interfere with the rest of the mix.

Pop music mixing & dynamic range
I'm getting a little ferklempt, I'll give you a topic...
Mixing methodology. How do we normally tackle the mix? Build up a drum mix, followed by bass, and up to guitars and vocals? Or start off with solo vocals / lead element at a certain volume (?), and bring up the other elements around that?

Mixing and Eq / Recording
Can someone help me out ...I am new to this and I bought a few toys t fiddle with. But from what I am reading in differnt books is that ...Say the drums, base, vocals and Keyboards all have there sounds confined to a certain freq range. Kind of shelving frequencies so as not to step on what is going on around it.

Mixing mixup to CD
For some reason when i playback the track i recorded through the monitors, it sounds real fat and full, mixed and EQ'd great, but when it gets put to CD so i can hear how it sounds through car speakers or my CD player at home, it always seems off, mixed improperly and EQ'd less as well.

Mixing down in the studio
If you recorded all your tracks for your new song(s) in your own studio. And then wanted to mix them down at a real nice studio. With a high dollar console. Which way is the best way to approach the owner so that you will get the best deal.

Mixing an Ep - Cost
Hi all. My name is Chris and I've been lurking for some time now just reading, but now I have a question. My band is recoridng a 5 song E.P. (rock music). We'd like the end product to sound as professional as possible in terms of the mix (and master) when were done (wouldn't we all).

Mixing issue
hello
i'd like to know how you can bring something up in a mix without making it louder.
i have some rock/metal tracks with some electronic sounds in them. when i make them louder they're too prominent in the mix, when i pull them down, they seem to almost disappear.
