MIDI Patchbays better avoided ?

Thinking of adding a MIDI Patchbay to my setup.
Curious to hear if this would be better avoided when not strictly needed. This because of the added delays (I thought at least a few milliseconds were unavoidable).

Are patchbays simply a tradeoff between convenience & tightness of timing ?

And much difference w.r.t. delays between the various models ?

Selecting a good patchbay

The way I see things is, if quality can be determinded through your wiring/cables, then should'nt this pertain to patchbays? I'm looking for a good patchbay. Then again, a couple of good patchbays. Does anyone know of or can give a good recomindation as to what's widely use now-a-days? The only one I can recall is "Neutrik".

TT vs 1/4" patchbay

Hello Everyone,

I'm embarassed to ask such a dumb question. I'm putting together my home studio, the heart of which is a
Studer A80 MKIV 1"-8 track. I've collected a smattering of nice gear and it's time to wire it to a patchbay. Is there any real advantage of a TT over a high end (broadcast quality) 1/4" patchbay?
Thanks in advance!
Jules

Patchbays

HI everyone

The forum seems a bit dead over the past few days, so I hope someone is around as I need HELP!

This is probably the most mundane and basic topic on the planet. I need to get a patchbay, and I know not the first thing about them. Everytime I've been in big studios it's been as a musician, and my own setup has never quite needed one.

Patchbays -- Punchdown vs Neutrik Spring Loaded?

I'm looking for a good, solid, TT patchbay that's flexible (in that I'll probably want to reconfigure it every so often). My soldering skills suck. So, right now I'm considering getting either one of the Neutrik patchbays that have the "spring loaded push terminals with gas tight connections" or a punchdown-style patchbay. I don't have any experience with either.
