i'm looking for a single piece (keyboard/or module/or sampler) to perform live: electric pianos (rhodes and wurly), acoustic pianos, organs (B3) and strings.
my budget is just 1600$ (or 1800 euro, i'm in italy).

Can anyone give me some hints on the best Micing techniques for a grand piano? I have two SM57s and two SM58s at my disposal for this purpose. The show in question is in a 365 seat auditorium and will feature a vocalist with piano accompaniment. Thanks!

I've been doing sampling for a looong time now and I've been hunting and hunting for a good sampled rock piano and all of my searches thus far have ended up empty-handed. Even the Double Platinum Rock Piano by Ilio doesn't even come close. Everything just seems too "pristine and perfect", as if they mic'ed the pianos for a PERFECT piano sound instead of preparing it for a mix.

Problem is I don't know a thing about recording something a bit realistic (for a realistic price).

Any tips on mixing piano? The source is a Korg 01W so I don't have to worry about mic placement. I just want to avoid a muddy bottom.

I wonder if anyone here knows any details about how Gus Dudgeon got the great piano sound on classic Elton John recordings (the Madman album comes to mind). Of course, a great piano, great player and great gear make an enormous difference, but I'm curious about the specific technical details.
