Mics for grand piano recording under $300
I have a quality Kawai grand in my house that I've been skimping and saving for years to buy, and I've finally made my dream come true after much close listening and play testing of hundreds of instruments. Now I want to record it and need to get some mics for the job.

Grand Piano and M160
I record jazz piano trio's mostly, in a live setting.
The piano player does not like to close the lid.
The drums bleed into both the bass and piano mic's.
I tried 441 's on piano. They did a good job of isolation but the pianist thought they were to bright so I changed to 414's.

background noise on a grand piano..help(logic 7)
hello, i am currently working with a friend and recording her a piano EP. i am using logic pro 7 but even after using a load of gates, there is still unwanted background noise. eg: noise from the sustain pedal, and also a small amount of hiss: which really bothers me.
Recording Grand Piano
Ok, I'm new. I know a lot of stuff about a lot of things but I don't know much about home recording.
I'm good with a computer and have a fairly fast Shuttle-X system that I would like to use.

recording flute/piano in a church
Hey all. I'm recording a flute/piano concert in a church next sunday. was looking for some mic placing suggestions. the mics i have available to use are two mxl overheads, 2 c3000b's and a C414B.
I was thinking about just using the c414 as an omni and putting it in front and over head, it's gonna be a pretty quick setup, so anything simple but effective would be cool.

Recording Real Piano and Singer
Hi,
I posted this in Recording and someone suggested I post it here in Acoustic Music..so here goes...
As I don't have a real piano in my small studio, a client (singer/pianist) asked me if I could record her on the small Yamaha grand piano that is available in our local hall.

Recording real piano and singer
Hi,
As I don't have a real piano in my small studio, a client (singer/pianist) asked me if I could record her on the small Yamaha grand piano that is available in our local hall.
I was wondering which mic setup might be best. I have a pair of AKG414EB mics that I thought of using in an X-Y config over the hammer area and using a RODE Classic valve mic on vocals.

Upright Piano
Hey Guys. I recently moved an upright piano into my home studio. The room is about 17' x 20', but it's carpeted, has tile recessed ceilings, and there's a crap load of other musical toys cluttering the area. I have two MXL 603s that I wanted to use to record the piano, but have never explored this instrument in the studio world.

Interesting piano gig
Hi all
Next year, I have a big gig coming up. There are some details that I should keep to myself for the moment, but I can say it has a number of interesting problems.
