Hi, i was wondering how producers/engineers get their jobs at record labels. Are they "discovered" like bands and hired to work for them? Any information you can tell me about this would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I am in the on-stage engineer for my band and all our live instruments go through an fully automated submixer linked into Abelton Live where they have been optimally mixed for each song.

I am currently using a Tascam FW1804 with Sonar Producer 4, and would like to add some more analog inputs. I am curious if there are issues with using more than one FW interface, or should I be looking at specific brands? I don't want to add another 1804, but am considering a M Audio or Edirol interface.

Ok, I'm just getting into recording. I have a band I'm working with, I got them registered with BMI. Is there anything I need to register with? Do I need to register as a producer or anything like that? Or how does that all work. As you can tell... I'm a newb

I have just embarked on a digital recording project and obtained a M-Audio 1010LT PCI card. I will be using this (and Ableton Live) on an HP Win XP SP2 machine with plenty of memory and a large drive. I actually have 2 questions:

The story is simple( taking place in Milano, Italy): I wrote a song, found a singer, and now I am finishing the production (electro-pop, all played by me). Now the question is what to do next. let me just note that I have a good feeling about this one. It might work... So, should I make the singer sign something? and should I look for a publisher, or go directly to a record company?
