Soon after my other friends visit to Canada, and the resulting E-mu 1820. This one's going visiting Australia.

I have been trying to save up to get acoustics done. Oppertunities come knocking rarely. Should i spend on the Sebatron ? Best I can afford is a 1000USD. So would it be the VMP1000, or the more excitng Maximus ?

from what i've read, i'm pretty much sold on a Sebatron vmp-2000. its hard not having the means by which to demo gear before big purchases, so relying on credible forums like this is my main source of info before making purchases. i'm looking for another quality preamp that would compliment the Sebatron , in the same approximate price range.

I already own The Brick which I'm fairly happy with but I'm wondering if the Sebatron VMP-1000 might sound even better. Is it worth the extra $400? Has anyone compared these two preamps?

I just ordered the 4000e and although I have worked with preamps before (HHB Radius 10s) I have a few questions regrading the Sebatron .

i've got a question regarding the Sebatron line of tube-mic preamps . are they coloring only in extreme settings or are they doing that all the time? would i be able to use them in a neutral setting for classical recordings or would you rather recommend to get a different mic preamp for that application? is there a "transparent" setting?

I've been reading up a bit on the Sebatron VMP-4000e quite a bit lately (I'm considering buying one) and I've come across some reviews that say the input transformers on these units are not as good as they should be. Is this true and if so how much would it cost to upgrade the transformers?

Out of these 2, which would recommend first? To compliment a ISA428...
