Sonar 8 Mic Settings

Im using Sonar 8 to record vocals and Im having mic issues. Normally when I choose my input I select my microphone and it says left right or stereo. But lately it just says mono and it sounds distorted and awful. Im not sure if I'm having mic issues or software issues. I feel like it might be my audio settings but I'm not sure. I cant figure it out. Please help.

adjusting monitor settings for room

my krks have two knobs one is called hf level adjustment and the other is the volume. what does the hf adjustment do ? and how do i know what to set it on ? ( it goes from -2 db to +1db ) and my volume goes from -30 db to +6db what is a good level to put this on ? when people say never put your volume all the way up are they talking about your computers volume or the speakers volume?

Recommended vocal speech recording settings

Please advise the best practices for recording vocals in terms of sampling rate, bit depth etc.

We use equipments that support latest standards such as - Digi 002, Sony PCM-D1 and such.

We will be recording spiritual discourses / speeches that will be digitally distributed, stored for long time to come. These recordings will be the originals (master copies).

EQ settings for live low voice

I'm having trouble with some live music in the way that we have just okay mics, and the songs we play sound pretty good, but sometimes when the vocal melody has a really low part, it gets lost in the music and you can't understand the words, which is understandable because the bass frequencies mix and mingle with the other stuff and don't get heard as much.
