Basic Vocal settings / effects advice

Forums

Hi gruop. Well I have done a ton of reading on this site about recording vocals and I can't seem to find some basic information I am looking for. Hopefully someone can give me a hand.

I am not new to recording in my home studio but I am new to recording vocals. I am using Cubase SX3 and Universal Audio plugin effects. I have a vocal iso booth and using a $200 Rhode condensor mic.

Voicemaster pro signal path and settings Q.?

Hi,
I am using the VMP in a live situation on my gigs. You can set it up with the compressor being pre or post EQ and the Vintage harmonics being pre or post compressor. It gets a bit confusing as to what the best signal chain would be for best results. Would it be best to have the
COMP-VC-EQ. or
VC-COMP-EQ or
VC-EQ-COMP.?

Help with vocal recording setup/settings

Forums

I've been trying to set up for home recording and am loosing my mind trying to get vocals into the computer.

Here's what I have: Studio Projects C1 mic, Studio Projects VTB1 pre-amp, M-Audio Firewire Audiophile, Sonar 4, Sound Blaster Live soundcard. None of these is very intuitive or came with an adequate description of how to link them together, and no setup I've tried works.

EQ settings for violin

I'm doing some essays in EQ with a recording I made the past year: violin and bass drum (the drum doing a percussive accompaniment) playing dance music. It is folk music.
I have done yesterday some search in this Forum about EQ and I found the following:
(I quote)
1-JoeH : “I use it (eq) sparingly, if at all (low end, rumble removal)”
