New to this plug and was wondering about any presets users of this plug have found that give a good saturation effect with out going overboard.

great sounding box but the company must be run by telepathic borgs because the documentation on everything is awful ..

I just picked up a pretty high-endpre/di and eq unit (Speck electronics) and compressor (FRM RNC), and i'm having trouble getting what i feel to be natural sounding results with them (it's a little better than without them, but not a ton).

I've been in the past, on tracking of the kick, just been using some light 2.5-3/1 compression but someone on another post/forum said that they use a limiter on tracking and compress later. Now I want to try that but, what attack and release settings should I use? I have vari-mu and optical to choose from too.

I'm going to the studio to record my sax. To cut down on studio time, can you give me some suggestions on which setting to use for the Avalon 737 Preamp? The engineer doesn't know. I'm looking for a warm sound..

I'm using a AKG 414 mic

I'd prefer not to guess at a setting in the book.

Im stuck with my Alesis 3630, Ive found that trying to understand the manual is a real process within itself.
Ive been knob dicking with it for about 1yr now,and have found the good and bad in the unit,but to tell you the truth,I still have confusion when it comes time to really understanding,threshold,ratio,attack,release etc.

I have really been looking around trying to find some "settings" not theory on what you would do in these instances.

My music is mainly acoustic based (think dave mathews with a little distorted electric, although i have a female vocalist)

ok i have a very basic, very un-professinal home studio set up...and i am new at this...i am going for an iron maiden, iced earth feel to my music

I have recorded a few songs but scraped them because the sound i had was not what i was looking for...when i play it "live" it sounds really good but going into my computer and coming back out it sounds like crap.

When making sure I'm getting good levels into my Focusrite ISA 220,
I'm wondering if i should go by the VU Meter or the Digital Input Meter?

I find that If i make sure the input on the VU is getting nice levels
then i can get some nice low compression...
